The themes documents were developed by analysing the progression points and standards in each domain at each level and trying to see themes and topics that might be easier for teachers to relate to than the dense jargonese of the progression points.

Foundation Studies
This 20+ page unit plan is designed to be presented to year 7 students in first term to introduce them to the VELS domains of PL, IPL, Thinking, Communication and ICT. leading to the introduction of digital portfolios and student led conferences



Personal Learning + Claxton Model Self assessment sheet
This assessment rubric is designed for students to self assess their learning capacities using the 4R Claxton framework. Versionw has a section added for managing personal learning (Bringing equipment, completing hw etc)




Inquiry learning and VELS
This links the various stages of an inquiry learning processs to the various topics and themes generated above. Purpose is to show teachers how they can relate to VELS at various stages of an inquiry learning process.

Inquiry Learning and VELS: example with essential question
This is an example of how the inquiry process linked to VELS dimensions might look fleshed out with an essential question. In this case "What are the costs and benefits of a car". The purpose is to show teachers in more concrete terms how an inquiry process might proceed in practice and link to VELS.
