Class meetings are an idea that has been around for many years. They were advocated by William Glasser in the 70's.

I have been interested in the work of American educator Jane Nelsen "Positive Discipline" and Marvin Marshall "Discipline without Stress" and over the past few years have trialled class meetings extensively. With the advent of the Interpersonal learning domain class meetings may be an idea whose time has come. The Classmeeting VELSIFIED7.doc is a step by step program to introduce class meetings based on the work of Nelsen and Marshall. This program has been linked to VELS outcomes and "Habits of Mind"
